Emergency Procedures at The Kee Resort
& Spa
Don't Panic
Tsunami warning announcements are primarily
a precautionary measure to ensure people have plenty of time to prepare in the
rare event that a tsunami wave may be heading towards the island.
The most recent tsunami warning on April 11
was due to an earthquake which occurred about 300 miles from Phuket and was
reported immediately to stations monitoring the Indian Ocean, giving people in
Phuket at least 2 hours notice.
Fortunately the resulting wave measured
only 10cm high.
We are Prepared
However, in the event of a genuine threat
from natural disaster or otherwise, staff at The Kee Resort & Spa are well
trained to deal with emergency situations.
In the event of a tsunami warning, The Kee
Resort offers a safe haven for the public in the Patong Beach area, including
non-guests or guests of other hotels.
Kee Resort staff will be on hand to direct
people in an orderly manner to the safest area.
Staff will also check every guest room to
ensure all guests are safe and their valuables secure.
Tsunamis Are Rare
Again, please rest assured that the tsunami
warning system is designed to give people plenty of time to prepare if an
earthquake occurs anywhere in the Indian Ocean so in the unlikely event that
you experience a tsunami warning, please remain calm and follow the
instructions of The Kee Resort 7 Spa staff.
