Have you ever heard about Songkran?
Songkran is one of important traditional festivals in many countries of South East Asia such as Burma, Cambodia, Malaysia, some parts of China and India. In Thailand, it has been set as Thai New Year's Day and normally is celebrated from 13th - 15th of April.
Songkran is Sanskrit language that means the passage of the sun from one sign of the Zodiac to another. The date was originally set by astrological calculations, but it is now fixed on 13th April. The festival may be extended if some of the celebrations fall over a weekend.
The most famous aspect of the Songkran celebrations is the throwing of water to each other. The custom originates from spring cleaning aspect of Songkran.
As April is the hottest part of the year in Thailand, so being soaked is a refreshing escape from the heat and humidity.
This year, The KEE had prepared special activities for its guests during Songkran Festival, it was held between 12th and 13th April, both day & night time.
Started from crazy splash pool party, sea boxing and Sunday brunch on 12th ;
On 13th, started with Thai traditional merit and paraded along Bangla Road ;
Both guests and staffs really enjoyed the day & night. The guests also had a chance to learn Songkran in Thai ways.
