Have you ever heard about Songkran?

Songkran is one of important traditional festivals in many countries of South East Asia such as Burma, Cambodia, Malaysia, some parts of China and India. In Thailand, it has been set as Thai New Year's Day and normally is celebrated from 13th - 15th of April.

Songkran is Sanskrit language that means the passage of the sun from one sign of the Zodiac to another. The date was originally set by astrological calculations, but it is now fixed on 13th April. The festival may be extended if some of the celebrations fall over a weekend.

The most famous aspect of the Songkran celebrations is the throwing of water to each other. The custom originates from spring cleaning aspect of Songkran. 

As April is the hottest part of the year in Thailand, so being soaked is a refreshing escape from the heat and humidity.

This year, The KEE had prepared special activities for its guests during Songkran Festival, it was held between 12th and 13th April, both day & night time.

Started from crazy splash pool party, sea boxing and Sunday brunch on 12th ; 

On 13th, started with Thai traditional merit and paraded along Bangla Road ; 

And in the evening, the KEE provided Thai shows and welcome guests to join dancing ;

Both guests and staffs really enjoyed the day & night. The guests also had a chance to learn Songkran in Thai ways.

Every Night is Party Night in the Heart of Patong

 

Patong, of course, is one of the most famous night entertainment areas in the world. The Bangla walking street is lined with every kind of entertainment along the vibrant beachside strip of pubs, clubs, bars and shows.

When you get the munchies you can pick up a quick kebab or tuck into a seafood buffet. Chow down on spicy noodles or grab a stick of barbecued chicken but if you want to give your taste buds a break with something familiar from home, pop into one of the many continental restaurants or fast food joints.

Adding to the festive atmosphere along Bangla are vendors and stalls selling all kinds of food, fun toys and souvenirs. You'll find streets performers such as break dancers, musicians and magicians among the crowds.

It's as simple as taking a walk on the beach.

 

What's so special about being next to Patong Beach is being able to take a refreshing walk along the sandy shoreline and detox the mind.

There's nothing better than soaking up the sights and sounds walking barefoot along a tropical shoreline. With more than two miles of golden sand, a walk along Patong Beach can be most refreshing for the senses. The fresh sea breeze, the sun, the sound of the waves and discovering colourful shells are all wonderful things that calm the senses and let all your troubles be carried away with the tide.

Detoxing with diet and spa treatments is great for your body and puts you in a good mood but a complete detox means really getting in touch with nature to put your mind, body and soul fully at ease.

Even with the beach so close, it's not always easy to disconnect from our hectic lifestyles, so it's good to remind ourselves to just switch off from time to time and give ourselves some down-to-earth down time in our own company.
